Paua: Recreational Fishing

There is a large recreational fishery for päua but restrictions on catch size
and quantities have been put in place as part of the QMS.

Only 10 päua of each species per person per day may be collected. They
must all be at least 125mm in length for black-footed päua and 80mm for
yellow-footed päua, measured at the widest part of the shell.

The possession of underwater breathing apparatus when collecting or in
possession of päua is prohibited.
